Artist Statements are the Worst - Even though I want my students to write them, I recognize and understand that everyone hates artist statements. They are probably better when written about one specific work of art. It's impossible to write a good, interesting artist statement about an entire body of work or artistic practice. I think the best artist statement I have wasn't a statement at all. It was an interview where I answered someone else's questions
